QuestionsToBeAnswered

print pdf
This area is used to capture questions that should be answered, either as part of current discussions, or in the future:

  • Where should the glossary be hosted? (Should it be on the CMSWiki site, or moved to the main CMPros site?)
  • What editorial process should be used?
  • What should we do with the existing "syndication" capability of the glossary? Is this something that is valuable at this point?

JamesR: feel free to add your questions to this list!

TonyB: What editorial process does Wikipedia use? Perhaps we could emulate them. I like the idea, though, of some sort of editorial body with a chair. There will be disputes. We need a forum for debate, and just a surely, we need an ultimate arbiter. On really contentious stuff, we could organize member votes, but I wouldn't want to do that more than once a quarter...

I don't know about RSS (except as a way of broadcasting changes and additions), but I would like to see some sort of capability to provide the glossary as a service to other sites. I believe Bob and Derek already did some good programming here, so that sites like CMS Watch and StepTwo? could reference glossary terms remotely...even through DHTML roll-overs and the like.

BobD: I have created individual pages on the CM Pros site for the terms "definitely in scope." Access them from the list of core content management terms.

The Wikipedia editorial process is wide open, just like the CMS Wiki. We rely on moderators to eliminate spam and restore good material that was erased.

Derek and I want our web service syndication of the glossary to be a fine example of practicing the reuse we preach.
